Travel documents & insurance

For EU travelers to Zimbabwe, a visa can be obtained at the border; cost of the visa is US$30 cash per person. Bringing exact change is easiest and fastest!

To enter Zimbabwe, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of your arrival and have 4 blank pages.
We require all participants to have travel and medical insurance. Cancellation cover is advised.

Health and vaccinations

The areas we will be visiting are in a medium to high risk malaria zone. To protect yourself, apply mosquito repellent and take antimalarial drugs.
Some vaccines are recommended for travel to Zimbabwe. Please consult with your medical professional.

Safety in Zimbabwe

People in Zimbabwe are friendly, welcoming, and polite and we have never felt unsafe while in Zimbabwe. However, it is always a good idea to remain vigilant.

As we will be travelling in a group with pre-arranged transport and stays in luxury lodges, we do not expect any difficulties with opportunistic crimes such as pickpocketing.

We will be staying in remote areas teeming with wildlife, so it is important to always follow our expert guides’ and lodges’ instructions. While on safari, remain seated in the vehicle unless allowed to get out by the guide. When staying in unfenced lodges, we will be escorted to and from our rooms after sunset.

Money & tipping

Although Zimbabwe has their own currency, almost everything is calculated in US dollars. There are some ATMs, for instance in Victoria Falls, but getting cash may be a challenge. We therefore advise you to bring enough cash; US dollars is preferred.

During our phototour, all lodges, transport and meals & drinks are included as mentioned.
Tips are not expected but much appreciated. In general, US$5-10 per person per day for the guide and US$5-10 per person per day for the lodge staff is suggested. The guide is paid his tip directly at the end of the last safari and the lodge usually has a tipping box for staff.

Souvenirs, helicopter rides and any other additional personal expenses can usually be paid with credit card (VISA and Mastercard most widely accepted).
